Things we miss about New York:

Fun In New York

Bagels: You just cannot get great bagels in Ohio. We've tried Bruegger's, Einstein Bros., Panera, and some others, and there's just no comparison to Collegetown Bagels. DLK, if you are reading this, send us a dozen and we will send you some DDL from Argentina. I think that's a fair trade, don't you? At right is our friend Margot's favorite picture of her husband, Steve, with a giant bagel. You can read more about them on Margot's Homepage.

Syracuse Basketball: Every place has their hot ticket in town, and this is it in Syracuse. It's a great thing to be in the Carrier Dome with 30,000+ people who have mid-winter cabin fever. Charles has been to a couple of games and had a good time, but was never really as committed a fan as Angie is. She wears her Syracuse sweatshirt whenever people around here get too pumped up about their own favorite teams. Lately, however, (and this is painful to admit) she's had a hankerin' to see the Buckeyes play in the new Schott! Go Orangemen!!!

Our other college friends: The Trolls on the Knoll was a fun gang, even though the house didn't always feel like a well-oiled social machine. Check out our Featured Friend Page for more pictures of one of the trolls. I update it infrequently unless someone complains about being up there. Then I'll leave the pictures up even longer :) . Here's former Troll Don Patterson looking like he's almost enjoying hanging off the wing of a Cessna. If you know Don (or want to), check out the update of his latest whereabouts on Don's Christmas Letter.

Real, Actual Snow: Perhaps the biggest adjustment we've had to make here is to the weather. Having grown up in Syracuse and New Jersey, we miss the snow. People here do not take snow lightly. A little bit goes a long way...especially since many side streets do not get plowed. Ever. During our first year here, we had the pleasure of having days off from work due to the snow. We went to the movies when there were two inches on the ground, and people were calling and hoping we were okay because it was declared a Level 2 Emergency! On the left is a picture of what REAL snow looks like...enough snow to shut down Cornell for the third time in history. On the right are Jeff, Angie, and Steve doing some "stage diving".
